Hello everyone, welcome back to my channel! Today I am super excited to share with you all a tutorial on how to sew mesh shorts for beginners. Mesh shorts are not only trendy and stylish, but they are also comfortable and practical for various activities such as working out, lounging at home, or even running errands. So grab your sewing machine and let’s get started!

First and foremost, let’s gather all the necessary materials for this project. You will need mesh fabric, elastic band, sewing machine, matching thread, scissors, pins, measuring tape, and a marking tool. Make sure to prewash and iron your fabric before starting to ensure that it is clean and easy to work with.

Next, let’s take our measurements. Measure your waist, hips, and desired length of the shorts. Use these measurements to draft a pattern for the front and back pieces of the shorts. You can either draft the pattern on paper or directly on the fabric using the measuring tape and marking tool. Make sure to add seam allowances to your pattern pieces for sewing.

Once you have your pattern pieces ready, it’s time to cut out the fabric. Lay the mesh fabric flat on a clean surface and place the pattern pieces on top. Pin the pieces in place to prevent them from shifting while cutting. Carefully cut out the front and back pieces of the shorts according to the pattern.

Now, let’s start sewing the shorts together. Place the front and back pieces of the shorts right sides together and pin along the side seams and inseam. Use a stretch stitch on your sewing machine to sew the seams together. Make sure to backstitch at the beginning and end of each seam to secure the stitches.

After sewing the side seams and inseam, it’s time to add the elastic band to the waist. Measure the elastic band to fit comfortably around your waist and cut it to size. Overlap the ends of the elastic band by about 1 inch and sew them together using a zigzag stitch on your sewing machine.

Next, divide the elastic band and waistline of the shorts into quarters and mark them with pins. Match the pins on the elastic band with the pins on the waistline and pin the elastic band in place. Sew the elastic band to the waistline using a zigzag stitch, stretching the elastic slightly as you sew to ensure a snug fit.

Once the elastic band is attached, fold the waistband over to encase the elastic and topstitch along the bottom edge of the waistband to secure it in place. Trim any excess fabric and threads, and your mesh shorts are now complete!

Voila! You have successfully sewn a pair of stylish and comfortable mesh shorts for yourself. Feel free to customize your shorts by adding pockets, drawstrings, or embellishments to make them uniquely yours. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and found it helpful.
